"I will kill you if you throw bananas at me" - Balotelli

Mario Balotelli has threatened to walk off the pitch if he is racially abused at Euro 2012 and said he would ‘kill’ anyone who dares to throw a banana at him.

Manchester City’s volatile Italian striker spoke out amid increasing concerns that black players will be targeted by racists when the tournament kicks off in Poland and Ukraine next week.
The families of England players Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott will not travel to Ukraine because of fears for their safety but Balotelli, of Ghanaian descent, said: ‘I will not accept racism at all. It’s unacceptable. If someone throws a banana at me in the street, I will go to jail, because I will kill them.’
Balotelli has been the victim of racist abuse on several occasions – most recently in February when Porto were fined over the behaviour of their supporters in a Europa League tie against City.
‘Let’s see what happens at the Euros,’ added Balotelli. ‘I hope it will pass without a problem. I really couldn’t deal with that.’
Balotelli, 21, was targeted by Juventus and Roma fans while playing for Inter Milan in 2009, which resulted in Juve having to play a match behind closed doors.
In June of that year, he was racially abused and pelted with bananas in a Rome bar while out with Italy teammates in the build-up to the European Under-21 Championships.
He added: ‘It was lucky that the police arrived quickly because, I swear, I would have beaten them. I would have really destroyed them. I hope it never happens again.’
In an interview with France Football, the striker insists he is a misunderstood ‘genius’ and said he hopes to stay at City despite a series of controversies.
‘It’s not easy when ”call girls” talk in the newspapers or when people say they have seen me here or there during the evening,’ he said.
‘But I would like to stay at City, because here I have affection. Will I stay? I don’t know. I think so. You have to ask Mino (Raiola, his agent).
‘It’s good luck that Roberto Mancini appreciates and understands me. Mancini always gives me confidence. Those who know me, love me. Those who don’t know me, love me, too, or they hate me.
‘It’s said that geniuses are misunderstood. But maybe it is because the genius is so different that people are not capable of understanding them. Yes, I think I’m a genius. But I don’t think I’m a rebel. I have my life, my world, I act how I want, without bugging anyone.’
Ukraine said a BBC Panorama documentary was ‘xenophobic’ after it showed their fans giving Nazi salutes and taunting black players with monkey noises. Euro 2012: Stadiums of Hate, broadcast on Monday, also showed Asian students being attacked in Kharkiv, a Euro 2012 venue.
Government spokesman Oleh Voloshyn said: ‘It portrayed eastern Europe as mentally not equal to the rest of Europe. We believe this report is outrageous, done in the best traditions of Soviet journalism. Ukraine is one the leaders in Europe in terms of religious and racial tolerance.’

Scientists reveal exact date of Jesus Death

The U.S. and German geologists claim they had discovered the exact date when Christ was crucified, the International Geology Review reported.
According to the report, published in the academic journal this week, the scientists discovered that Christ had been crucified on Friday, April 3, 33 AD.
Jefferson Williams from the U.S. Supersonic Geophysical together with his German colleagues, Markus Schwab and Achim Brauer analyzed seismic activity near the Dead Sea and the earthquakes’ descriptions in the New Testament’s first book, Gospel of Matthew.
Matthew’s Chapter 27 says that as Jesus lay dying on the cross “the earth did quake, and the rocks rent.”
The scientists, who had detected the signs of two earthquakes in the soil samples from the Dead Sea, revealed that the latter earthquake had occurred between 26AD and 36AD, at the time when Pontius Pilate was procurator of Judea and when, as all four canonical gospels say, Jesus was crucified.
By putting together several clues from the Gospel of Matthew, combined with the Jewish calendar and astronomical data, the researchers revealed the date of the crucifixion with a fair degree of precision, the journal said.

Illegal Chinese Immigrants in Nigeria to be deported

Forty five Chinese nationals, comprising 34 male and eleven female, have been arrested and detained by the Kano state command of the Nigerian Immigration Service for what it described as “economic scavenging” in the popular Kantin Kwari textile market in Kano metropolis, northwest Nigeria.
Controller, Kano State command, Dr. Brasca Ifeadi who revealed this while briefing newsmen in his office on Tuesday said the mass arrest of the Chinese followed a directive from the Comptroller General of Immigration, Mrs. Rose Uzoma.
The controller emphasized that every foreigner who is not in the country to add value to the Nigerian economy, but to devalue it will not be allowed henceforth.
He assured foreign nationals who come to Nigeria to invest and create employment for Nigerians that they will be welcomed and supported by the Federal Government.
Ifeadi said the Chinese arrested on the first day of the raid on the market would be repatriated to their country immediately by the NIS for their involvement in activities order than what they declared in the immigration documents.
He lamented that their involvement in lowly rated activities which should be reserved for Nigerians have been depriving them of job opportunities.
According to him, the exercise which is on going and a nationwide directive by the Controller General of the Immigration is not specifically targeted at expatiates of the Asian giants alone, but all foreigners into such activities that could be termed as menial.
He said that even though the directive was a general one, it is however basically to weed them off from big markets in places like Lagos, Kano and Ibadan where the Chinese nationals trading within the market.
Ifeadi also explained that, “Chinese select basic areas in the country, but basically the exercise is beginning from three major areas of Kano, Lagos and Ibadan where their activities is worse. So we will fish them out and repatriate them.”
He explained that “Out of the arrested Chinese nationals, eleven of them are women and it is an exercise aimed at making the economy of the country healthier. Only quality expatriates would be allowed into the country, not those who are economic scavengers. They will be deported to their country.”
Ifeadi stressed that, “the Chinese nationals seem to be mostly affected now, because they are selling textile in the market. But that of Kano is worrisome. So, the Controller General feels that enough is enough and it’s going to be a continuous exercise until when the economy is revived.
“All those foreign nationals trading in the market who are causing economic havoc in our country will be arrested and deported to their country.
“For Chinese to come to our country and be selling textiles in our market will not be allowed. And we will continue checking them; arresting them and deporting them to their country.”

The Internet and how it affects your brain

There’s been a lot of controversy over the concept of Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD), especially as the new DSM-V prepares to launch. Some feel that there’s little evidence to warrant IAD as being recognized as an actual disorder. Others disagree. Earlier research has found some changes in the brain of people who are hooked on the Web, and a new study shows reductions in volume of certain areas of the brain and in its the white matter – the highways of connection between brain cells – of young people who are addicted to the Internet. What’s interesting is that these brain changes mirror the ones in people who are addicted to other kinds of things, like heroin, for example.
Researchers quizzed 35 people between the ages of 14 and 21 about their Internet use and feelings about how it affected their lives. Among the eight questions were some like:
“Do you feel nervous, temperamental, depressed, or sensitive when trying to reduce or quit Internet use?” “Have you taken the risk of losing a significant relationship, job, educational or career opportunity because of the Internet?”  “Have you lied to your family members, therapist, or others to hide the truth of your involvement with the Internet?” “Do you use the Internet as a way of escaping from problems or of relieving an anxious mood (e.g., feelings of helplessness, guilty, anxiety, or depression)?”
If respondents answered “yes” to at least five of the questions, as half of them did, they were tagged as having IAD. To confirm the youngsters’ habits, the researchers asked their family and friends about how much their habits were “disrupting others’ lives despite the consequences.”
Then the participants underwent brain scans to look at any differences that might exist in the brains of the IAD sufferers and in controls. They found several areas of decreased volume in IAD participants, and for some of these areas, there was a negative relationship between volume and the length of time the participants had been addicted to the Internet.  In other words, the longer they were addicted, the less volume they had in certain regions.
There were also altered connections in the white matter tracts between brain cells, which suggests disruptions in how the neurons “talk” to one another.
The areas that were affected in the people who were diagnosed with IAD are thought to govern emotional processing, executive thinking skills and attention, and cognitive control. What’s more, the brain changes found in this study are thought to be similar to those involved in other kinds of addiction like alcohol and drugs.earlier research had suggested similar links, but this study seems to add to the growing body of evidence that Internet addiction may actually exist.
People who suffer from IAD don’t just spend a lot of time on the computer, but the authors say they also have significant problems in life, like “impaired individual psychological well-being, academic failure and reduced work performance.”
As always, there’s the lingering question of which came first, the chicken or the egg. In this case, it’s not clear whether people became addicted to the Internet first and brain changes then followed, or whether the brain was already wired differently, predisposing the young brains to addiction.
It will probably take a while to figure out this ever-present question that plagues science. Rather than being a straight either/or situation, it could be more of a back-and-forth: brains could be predisposed (genetically and physiologically) to addiction, then addiction develops, then brain changes exaggerate – and so on and so forth.
It will be interesting to see how the study will affect the debate. Since it seems like we can become addicted to just about anything – substances and behaviors alike – it may not be surprising that Internet addiction is a real thing. More work will be needed to understand the phenomenon more fully, but in the meantime, it can’t hurt to turn off the computer and give your brain a little rest.

Test your brain's sharpness

To test your mental acuity, answer the following questions (no peeking at the answers!):
1. Johnny’s mother had three children. The first child was named April. The second child was named May. What was the third child’s name?
2. A clerk at a butcher shop stands five feet ten inches tall and wears size 13 sneakers. What does he weigh?
3. Before Mt. Everest was discovered, what was the highest mountain in the world?
4. How much dirt is there in a hole that measures two feet by three feet by four feet?
5. What word in the English language is always spelled incorrectly?
6. Billie was born on December 28th, yet her birthday always falls in the summer. How is this possible?
7. In British Columbia you cannot take a picture of a man with a wooden leg. Why not?
8. If you were running a race and you passed the person in 2nd place, what place would you be in now?
9. Which is correct to say, “The yolk of the egg is white” or “The yolk of the egg are white?”
10. A farmer has five haystacks in one field and four haystacks in another. How many haystacks would he have if he combined them all in one field.
Answers

1. Johnny.
2. Meat.
3. Mt. Everest. It just wasn’t discovered yet.
4. There is no dirt in a hole.
5. Incorrectly (except when it is spelled incorrecktly).
6. Billie lives in the southern hemisphere.
7. You can’t take a picture with a wooden leg. You need a camera (or iPad or cell phone) to take a picture.
8. You would be in 2nd place. You passed the person in second place, not first.
9. Neither. Egg yolks are yellow.
10. One. If he combines all his haystacks, they all become one big stack.
Okay, some of these are a bit corny. But they all illustrate several brain idiosyncrasies that affect how we make decisions in the world.
Thanks to the way our brain works, we have a very strong tendency to see what we want to see and what we expect to see. This has huge implications when studying our customers, markets, competitors, and other data that influences key business decisions.
When we only see what we want or expect to see, we miss competitive threats because our brain tells us a threat couldn’t possibly come from that direction. We miss opportunities because we only see what has worked in the past rather than what could be. And we miss major market shifts and changes in customer needs that seem obvious in hindsight but are easily overlooked when focusing on what we already know.
Our brain doesn’t like information gaps, so we tend to jump at the first answer/solution that looks good rather than take the time to examine all the data. This is especially true in a world where we receive more information every day than we have time to assimilate. Finally, our brains love to see patterns and make connections. This trait serves us well in many ways as we move through the world. But the brain doesn’t always get it right.
For example, how did you answer question #1 (be honest)? For most people, the first word that pops into their head is “June,” because the brain quickly spots the April/May/June pattern. Upon re-reading the question and analyzing the data, the answer “Johnny” becomes obvious.
And what about the man with the wooden leg? Your answer depends on how you interpret “with.” Does it refer to the man with the wooden leg or to the camera? A bit of a trick question, but it clearly illustrates how the language we use shapes the way we look at the world.
Perhaps the best example of how we miss things is the egg yolk question. Everybody knows egg yolks are yellow. But the question’s phrasing puts our attention on selecting the correct verb, so we overlook an obvious piece of data and an even more obvious answer.
We can’t change how the brain works – at least not yet. Give science another 50 years and who knows what our brains will be doing! For now, we can become more aware of how our brain works, then pause from time to time to consider what we’re missing. This includes the data we’re unconsciously screening out as well as different sources of data to counterbalance what we expect to see.
Get in the habit of teasing your brain. You’ll be amazed at what you end up seeing that you didn’t see before.

The German Embassy in Ukraine is expecting up to 100,000 German fans and tourists to come to Ukraine for the
 Euro 2012 championship.

"The embassy is expecting up to 100,000 German citizens to come to Ukraine during Euro 2012,"
Deputy Cultural Attaché of the German Embassy in Ukraine Cyrus Royamanech said during an embassy information tour,
entitled Deutschland Mobil 2012, in Ivano-Frankivsk.

At the same time, he noted that "in truth, it's now difficult to assess how many German citizens will visit Ukraine
 and attend matches."

Royamanech noted that the German national team is playing its group stage matches in Ukraine: two in Lviv and one in Kharkiv.

"Of course we also are expecting that the [German] national team will progress and will play more matches," he said.

As reported, German fans have bought all of the available tickets for the two matches of the German national team in Lviv.
The tickets for Germany-Holland match in Kharkiv have almost sold out.

The German national team will play two matches in Lviv, against Portugal and Denmark, and one in Kharkiv against

Pastors Call for Adeboye to quit

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God who turned 70 this year, has shunned the call from the Europe-based pastors of the church to relinquish the post of the General Overseer.
It was alleged that about 20 pastors from the branches of the Church in Europe met with the revered man of God in his International office at Redemption Camp, KM 46, Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, Mowe, Ogun State, to advise him to resign so that a younger pastor could be appointed to head the church.
The reason given by these ambitious men of God was that since Pastor Adeboye has clocked 70 years, it is normal for him, according to what obtains in the church, to retire.
The pastors cited the case of the four Assistant General Overseers of the church, Pastors M.O. Ojo, Ilori, Aderibigbe and D. Ojo, whose retirements were announced at the conclusion of Minister Conference on Sunday, August 8, 2010.
Investigation by P.M.NEWS, however, revealed that Pastor Adeboye could not retire from the position of the General Overseer of the church yet, as the position is not political.
A leading member of the church who spoke with P.M.NEWS this morning said it is God who will nominate the successor to the office when the time comes.
Our source, who did not want his name mentioned, said further, “the founder of the church, Pa Josiah Oluwafemi Akindayomi, did not appoint a successor because he was 70, rather, the successor, Pastor Adejare Adeboye was appointed when the time came for him, the founder, to go and meet with the Lord.’
A pastor of the church (name withheld) wondered how some people could be thinking that way, “when all of us are seriously praying to God to grant our father (Pastor Adeboye) long life, good health and strength to continue the good work he’s doing for the Lord.”
He further said the position of the General Overseer of the Church is not for the highest bidder or the most erudite pastor; rather, it is God who will appoint the most qualified pastor when it is time.
Pastor Adeboye had told his faithful in one of the services not too long ago that his successor is still in drinking joint, that is, the fellow is yet to give his life to Christ or he is still a baby Christian.

Jonathan Replies Buhari

The attention of the Presidency has been drawn to unfortunate statements in the media made by former Head of State and presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) in which he allegedly predicted bloodshed in 2015 and labelled the Federal Government led by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, as "the biggest Boko Haram".

But perhaps the most unfortunate part of the statement was the portion in which Buhari said that, "Since the leaders now don’t listen to anybody but do whatever they wish, there is nothing the north can do."

We find it very sad that an elder statesman who once presided over the entirety of Nigeria can reduce himself to a regional leader who speaks for only a part of Nigeria. We now understand what his protégé and former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Nasir El’Rufai, meant when he wrote in a public letter in October of 2010, telling Nigerians that Buhari remains "perpetually unelectable" and that Buhari's "insensitivity to Nigeria’s diversity and his parochial focus are already well-known." Who can know Buhari better than his own political associate?

Come to think of it, as the CPC presidential candidate in the 2011 election, how many states in the Federation did he visit to campaign for votes? Buhari never bothered to campaign in the southern part of the country and consistently played up the North-South divide to the chagrin of patriotic and well-meaning Nigerians. As the results revealed, Nigerians will never vote for anyone who wants to divide the country. Is Buhari going to continue to be a sectional leader?

The Federal Government led by President Jonathan is not Boko Haram. Boko Haram means Western Education is sin. That being the case, one wonders how a government that devoted the largest sectoral allocation in the 2012 budget to education could be said to be Boko Haram. Between 1983, when Buhari forcefully seized power from the democratically elected administration of President Shehu Usman Shagari, and 2012, no other administration has committed the same quantum of resources as the Jonathan administration to education in the part of Nigeria that has witnessed the most Boko Haram-related insecurity.

Only on April 10, 2012, President Jonathan commissioned the first of 400 Federal Government Model Almajiri Schools, equipped with modern facilities such as a Language Laboratory, Qur'an Recitation Hall, classrooms and dormitories as well as a clinic, vocational workshop, dining hall and quarters for the Mallams. As Nigerians read this, more of such schools have been completed.
We now challenge Major General Buhari (rtd) to tell Nigerians what he has done, whether in his capacity as the head of a military junta or in his private capacity, to bring education to vulnerable children. If he cannot live up to this challenge, perhaps he has to reassess who really is Boko Haram.

Buhari claims that the Federal Government does not listen. Such an accusation ought not to emanate from a man overthrown by his own hand- picked colleagues in the military for refusing to listen to advice and behaving as if he had a monopoly of knowledge.

It is on record that the Federal Government led by President Jonathan is a listening administration hence its decision to pursue all means of resolving the Boko Haram insurgency including through dialogue.

When Buhari says that "if what happens in 2011 should again happen in 2015, by the grace of God, ‘the dog and the baboon would all be soaked in blood", we hereby state that it is Buhari himself who does not listen. He has obviously refused to listen to the Nigerian People, the European Union, the Commonwealth Monitoring Group, the African Union and a multitude of independent electoral monitors who testified that the 2011 elections were free and fair and "the best elections since Nigeria returned to civil rule."

Indeed, such a reaction from Buhari is not totally unexpected since he has become a serial election loser who has never taken his past election defeats graciously even when such elections were generally acknowledged to be free and fair.

Still on the issue of Boko Haram, we wonder what locus a man whose party's Secretary General, Buba Galadima, told the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in December, 2010, that the Federal Government is underestimating the support base of Boko Haram, has to accuse a government that has been threatened on camera by the leaders of Boko Haram of itself being Boko Haram?

Major General Buhari (rtd) also boasts of his knowledge of the Petroleum Industry because of his time as Federal Commissioner for Petroleum. We wonder why he did not boast of the infamous scandal that occurred in that ministry where under his watch billions of Naira (in the 1970s) were reported stolen, a matter which led to the setting up of the Justice Ayo Irikefe panel.

Finally, we wish to make it known to Buhari that given his reference to "dogs and baboons", perhaps his best course of action would be to travel to the zoo of his imagination because President Goodluck Jonathan was elected by human beings to preside over human beings and it is human beings who will determine what happens in Nigeria at any material time not "dogs and baboons".
